Old 8mm movie projector running in quiet storage room at 16 frames-per-second speed.

Me fiddling around with some 8mm film material in-between digitizing. It's the typical sound when trying to attach the end of the film to the reel. Close-up recording with a tascam dr-05.

It was recorded in tallers building of pompeu fabra with h202 recorder with a high gain. The sound is short and has a high-pitched tone. We can listen the sound of air-conditioning.

Reverberation effect made by Nasca Paul with ZynAddSubFX software synthesizer. A short sample is followed by different samples with reverberation effect.

An 8mm film projector being turned on. The projector then runs for over a minute, with some changes in pitch as the reel grows smaller. The reel then reaches the end and is pulled through the projector before the projector is turned off.

Small plastic slides being moved around the rough, metallic tops of a speaker. Originally intended to be used as microscope slides, but obviously this can be used for other things as well.

I've been recording some sounds for a an upcoming project which led me to recording the underside of the lid of a salad spinner and dangling a small plastic tab on it as it spun. It wasn't my intention but it sounds a bit like an old film projector. You can get some interesting results with this clip by messing a bit with the eq which is what i'll be doing for the finished project. This recording was made using a sound devices mixpre6ii and a stereo pair of fel em172 mics. Low cut on the sd which in basic mode is 80hz (i think). There is no processing to this recording other than to ‘normalize’ the levels. I do not require any credit or attribution. Robotic voice effect using a en:vocoder. This effect is often found in film and television productions. For the technically minded, the voice is modulating a 110Hz en:sawtooth wave, which is the note A two octaves below en:A440. There is also some en:reverberation and phasing added.
